What are the dimensions?
The Germinators I & II measure 5' x 8' respectively. The
lengths
fold up to only 5 inches thick for off-season storage.
How long does it take to put the kits together?
The one-time initial assembly takes about 1-3 hours. Besides an
electric drill, only basic tools are needed. Each time after, it
only takes a few minutes to set up or take down.
Do the shelves come with it?
Yes, each kit includes a full length, two-tier shelf system. The
shelves also come apart for easy storage.
How many plants could I growing the Germinator?
If you elect to use the ground level to grow upon, one side of the
Germinators can hold up to 24 standard (11" x 21") flats
of plants. A ready-to-fit additional shelf system is available if
you wish to double the capacity.
What do the kits include?
Sturdy aluminum frames, spreader bar tensioners, a sewn cover with
2 closable ceiling vents and large rear wall vent, all hardware
and easy to follow instructions. The vents are screen covered to
keep out insects.
What is the cover material and how long will
it last?
The cover is a high-density polyethylene, laminated with polyester
strands to make it tear resistant. Ultraviolet inhibitors are added
to guarantee years of extended life under normal use.
How much light get's through?
About 75%. It's ideal for young plants to adjust to natural light.
Can I leave my Germinator out all winter?
Yes. However, it's not recommended in areas that experience heavy
snowfalls. Continuous exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun
can shorten the lifespan of the cover. They are intended to give
you a 2 month early head start on the growing season and another
extra month or two at the season's end. Germinators are referred
to as "season extenders"
How well do they hold up in the wind?
The Germinators have been tested in high winds and golf ball-sized
hail. All Germinator Series Greenhouses come with six 15" earth
anchors. If you want to put the greenhouses on a deck or patio,
we recommend bolting them to the deck.
What is the warranty period?
Germinators have a limited one year manufacturer's warranty. The
manufacturer warrants each Germinator to be free from defects in
material and workmanship under normal usage, assuming proper installation
and maintenance. Call for complete warranty information.
